COSTCO approached the boutique team to present storage and container options for their stores. Where margins are razor thin, are where designers find the biggest challenge (and often times reward) for designers naturally strive to present the “best” product.
Faced with these challenges, the process became a matter of picking one key feature per collection to celebrate and then maintaining a back-and-forth with the factory to workable pricewise. Examples of this included implementing on a different technique to create the gradient on the glass containers. By working parametrically in 3D it was much easier to communicate and adjust to the needs of the client, lead, and supplier.
